Head Start is a nation-wide program that has served children and families since 1965. Head Start programs serve children birth to 5 years of age and their families. The goal of Head Start is to help children be prepared for school by providing a wide range of services that consider each child’s and family’s developmental, ethnic, cultural, and linguistic heritage and experience. Head Start provides education and assistance in the areas of:

Education and early childhood development

Medical, dental, and mental health

Nutrition

Parent involvement
